Why do we lose motivation in our life? As I reflected, I figured out two main reasons why I was unmotivated. Also, let me share 2tricks that help me improve motivation.
Some of main causes of motivation loss are
- Lack of clarity about my goal
- Many obstacles that have not been solved piled up in my mind
If there are so many obstacles in our mind, we are more likely to lose motivation. An obstacle is memories that make me feel like I’m out of control or I can’t do well.
Here are 2 tricks to keep yourself motivated.
1. Write down the state of your mind.
There are obstacles in my mind that prevent me from going forward. Write down obstacles. The more you write, the clear you understand why your mind has no power to move forward. Lack of self-understanding leads to people losing motivation and goals more easily.
For me, I try to write down the 4things below in the paper.
Give yourself enough time to look back yourself deeply. The more detailed, the better.
(Write 2-4 steps if you are merely trying to figure out why you have lost motivation)
1) Aware of the goal clearly
Let’s think about the goal I want and write it down in detail. When you understand why you do what you do, you are less likely to lose focus, you are more motivated, and you can focus more on what you do.
2) Recognize obstruction
Make a list of the things that keep me worrying or feeling uncomfortable. Or hindrances to one’s goal. It might be related to your work, people, or your health. etc.
3) Recognize the reason for obstruction
Write the reason why you don’t like it or why you feel uncomfortable. Write it honestly and specifically.
4) Set the solution
Try to write a solution you can act on now.
Example)
1) Aware of the goal clearly
My pelvis needs to be aligned. it is slightly twisted. Let’s exercise for 30 minutes every day.
2) Recognize obstruction
Pelvis correction requires persistence, but it’s difficult to sustain and I’m not very motivated.
3) Recognize the reason for obstruction
Reasons for not continuing exercise is
a)
The mind of wanting the results in a short time. Past moments that I postponed and gave up exercise. Minds that I won’t be able to last. Mind that I won’t be able to maintain. etc. those lot of obstacle mind make me lose the conviction that I can make it.
b)
There are various pelvic correction guides on YouTube. I continue to find a video that explains easier and faster effects(impatient greed). so I see a lot of videos but I couldn’t stick to one guide.
4) Set the solution
Instead of expecting a quick result, let’s look at it in the long run and implement the long-term plan. Instead of watching this and that, let’s follow one video steadily.
You don’t need to write perfectly. The point is writing down makes me understand myself better. Your goals, your problems, and solutions become clearer as you write.
2. Empty the mind(Meditation)
This is the very important part. Although obstacles and solutions are recognized, it is not easy to change yourself when you are filled with so many thoughts. Because we speak and act according to what we have in our mind.
Once you discard your minds, we can have actual changes. The more you empty your mind, the more comfortable it becomes. When your mind is comfortable, your efficiency increases.
Example)
I tried to let go of my expectation and greed that the body must be fixed quickly, repeated memories of postponing exercise and blaming myself, and doubt that I won’t change. As I let go of those minds, the attachment to my body faded away. The lack of pressure allowed me to exercise more consistently. Reasons come from the mind. Now I know when there is no mind thinking that I should exercise I can exercise more constantly.
Being able to reflect on myself and discard my mind is an exciting process for me. Because it resulted in actual changes for me. The benefits of meditation and writing are self-awareness and a faster path to achieving your goals. If you want to empty your mind and make actual changes, please refer to the below.🌱
