I was once addicted to playing computer games back in middle school. I was thinking about games all day long at that time. Even before I go to sleep, while eating, and while studying. Of course, the result of study wasn’t good. Memories of games controlled me all day long.
Things that hinder your goal are thoughts you accumulated in your mind. If you cleanse cluttered minds that hinder your goal, you can focus on one thing that you do.
I met meditation when I was in university. Meditation helped me to empty my mind. Through meditation, I could look back on my whole life. In reflecting on my life, I understood myself deeply.
While looking back at my middle school, I understood why I was addicted to the game. I reflected on how I felt then. And there were many minds. Such as the pressure from parental expectations and from comparing with friends, guilt that I didn’t do my best daily basis, mind that I won’t be able to do and that I don’t want to do, etc.
Due to all those cluttered thoughts, I couldn’t focus well. So to avoid those minds, I was unconsciously into the game.
I discarded those minds that I’ve accumulated from my life one by one.
As much as I discard those minds I carried in my life, my mind became lighter and lighter. Because the source of a hindrance has gone. I could feel that burdens on my head go away. Naturally, my concentration gets improved.
Through emptying my mind, my life became much simpler and happier.
If I had learned meditation when I was much younger, it would have helped me study better, and I would have had less time to wander and get stressed out. Still, I am grateful that I met meditation now.
Hidden minds such as wounds, hatred, obsessions, resentments, etc cause people to lose focus on their goals. If you cleanse your hindrance, you can awaken your potential and focus on your goal.
In truth, I am interfering with my goal by my mind inside me, not the world outside. If you want to know how to empty your mind, please refer to the video below.🌱
