What’s a bad habit that you’ve been able to overcome?

Thank you for your question. Have you ever played RPG video games? You level up skills to enhance your character’s ability to perform the tasks you want to develop. For example:

I have found, that my every thought and every action is dictated by habits – a repeated thought / action which becomes automated.

To make it clear – replace all of the above with all your bad habits (10 is highest / worst and 0 is the lowest). Here’s a list of where my bad habits used to be:

  • Drug addiction = 10
  • Gluttony = 10
  • Anger = 10
  • Blaming / victim mentality = 10
  • Laziness = 10
  • Negative thinking = 10
  • Inferiority = 10
  • Superiority = 10
  • Lust = 8
  • Giving up = 8
  • Procrastination = 8

Many are tied together. For example inferiority leads to negative thinking, which leads to drugs and gluttony. I tried to change these habits and build new ones, but no matter how much I tried, I just couldn’t. If I tried to overcome my laziness, and I hit a set back, it would trigger inferiority, which would trigger negative thinking, which would trigger giving up, then drugs and gluttony. I couldn’t escape.

Change hasn’t been a straight line. It’s been hard, and the only way I could do it was by discarding the habits from my subconscious mind. From there, I was able to eliminate and break down many bad habits – but it’s a process, not a straight line. So I won’t sit here and say “hey I’m completely free from all of these habits!” because they are triggered with the conditions of life. But I will say how they have changed:

  • Drug addiction = 2
  • Gluttony = 7
  • Anger = 3
  • Blaming / victim mentality = 1
  • Laziness = 3
  • Negative thinking = 3
  • Inferiority = 2
  • Superiority = 2
  • Lust = 1
  • Giving up = 1
  • Procrastination = 1

The one I feel most strongly about is Blaming / victim mentality. To see that everything is my fault, and that I am responsible for the change has been a revolution on my consciousness. I hope you find the following video useful which makes everything I’ve said more clear!
